CM: Milan seem willing to make an extra effort to try satisfy Leao – the details

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan remain in talks over the renewal of Rafael Leao but it is proving to be a difficult situation with no signs of a quick resolution, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com write that dialogues are open as Ricky Massara and Paolo Maldini are maintaining contact both with Rafael Leão’s lawyer, Ted Dimvula, and with his agent Jorge Mendes.

The Rossoneri management consider the renewal of Leao’s contract – currently expiring in 2024 – to be a priority, and Rafa has sent messages which have not reassured the club. The negotiation remains complex because of the €20m that the former Lille star must pay to Sporting CP and because of the great interest he is generating among the top European clubs.

The first offer sent by Milan to Leão was €6m net per season, a figure that is certainly significant but still considered far away from the ideas of the entourage of the Portuguese international.

That’s why Maldini and Massara are evaluating a raise to €7m. A definitive decision will be made in the next few days but there is every intention of making a further effort to try and convince him to extend.
