ML: Milan eyeing Lazio defender ahead of potential summer 2025 move

The AC Milan management are planning for the next summer transfer window already and have Lazio defender Mario Gila on their list, according to a report.

As MilanLive report, the present situation is that Davide Calabria and Alessandro Florenzi are both set to leave the club because their contracts expire next June. That would mean two right-backs leaving, and thus at least one replacement would be needed.

However, contacts are underway over Calabria’s renewal. The 27-year-old would like to stay and, through his agent, has asked to go from his current salary of €2m net per season to €2.5m. The management have postponed things for the time being, waiting for more consistent performances.

Furthermore, the departure of one of either Malick Thiaw or Fikayo Tomori is possible. Both central defenders continue to have several admirers in the Premier League (Newcastle United above all).

This is why Mario Gila’s name has been circled by Milan, a player who has become an immovable starter at Lazio under Marco Baroni. He has made eight appearances for a total of 553 minutes, having missed three games due to injury.

The 24-year-old has generally been used as a central defender, however he can also fill in at right-back. The Spaniard signed for the Biancocelesti from Real Madrid in 2022, and is under contract until 2027.

      1. 3rd option. Obviously Gabbia will be a starter then it’s just between Pavlo and Gila for the second spot. And Gila is a rcb. So 3rd option.

This is ofc assuming we sell tomori and/or thiaw.

  1. Management won’t give Calabria a small pay rise after a whole career of loyalty, but will dump millions into Emersons pocket for the most ineffective RB displays in the league…

    1. You hate Emerson because social media told you too 😂 the guy has been decent. NOT great, but certainly not bad. I agree with the rest of your statement, I’d take calabria over Emerson every day of the week. The fact he’s is a boyhood milan fan and has spent so many years in the first team just makes it more reason to atleast renew him. However Emerson hasn’t been bad at all and if you or anyone think he has then you clearly have an agenda because I’ve watched every match and it’s simply untrue

    2. Yes. Unfortunately, our club has lost his values and principles wiht this pathetic low character clueless american hedge found owners with “fast food” mentality…
I don’t think that in our lifetime we will have another owner like Berlusconi, with his charisma, ambition and high class…
Sad times we live now in western world with this despotic ultra-liberal woke american corporatism, a dying crap “empire” with no culture…
