Davide Calabria Alex Jimenez

CM: Calabria future seemingly ‘decided’ as Milan evaluate replacement

It seems Davide Calabria will depart at one of the next two opportunities to do so, and AC Milan are already beginning to evaluate potential replacements.

This season, the baton has already been starting to be passed elsewhere, and this has shown in multiple ways. Calabria remains Milan’s club captain, but Fonseca has instead preferred to utilise a multi-leader system.

The decision goes hand in hand with the right-back’s minutes dropping, as Emerson Royal looks to cement himself in the position. Due to the Italian’s renewal talks not progressing, it seems that the captain will depart in the winter mercato, if not the summer when his current deal expires.

As Calciomercato.com writes, Galatasary looks like a possible destination, given they have stated their interest on several occasions, and Olympique Marseille are also in the running it seems. Now, though, the big question facing Milan is who will replace him.

There has been a lot of interest in Tiago Santos in the past, but a move for the Portuguese looks unlikely given the Rossoneri see Alex Jimenez as a possible replacement. The Spaniard is held in high regard by the management, and given he has already played first-team minutes, it would not be a major risk.

  1. I would love to give Jimenez a chance to become a starter. He’s fast rly good in attack and since he is getting played as a fullback still despite having such great attacking skills, it shows that people see good defensive skills in him too. He had 1 bad game for us a Fullback the rest was good (1 game was incredible good). Let’s give him a chance

  2. Jimenez is a winger not a fullback and should be our wing sub. Especially if Fonseca starts playing Leao – Puli – Chuk trio.

But still, anything is better than Emerson.

    1. Associazione Calcio Milan (Italian pronunciation: [assotʃatˈtsjoːne ˈkaltʃo ˈmiːlan]), commonly referred to as AC Milan (Italian pronunciation: [a tˌtʃi mˈmiːlan]) or simply Milan,[6] is an Italian professional football club based in Milan, Lombardy. Founded in 1899, the club competes in the Serie A, the top tier of Italian football. In its early history, Milan played its home games in different grounds around the city before moving to its current stadium, the San Siro, in 1926.[7] The stadium, which was built by Milan’s second chairman, Piero Pirelli and has been shared with Inter Milan since 1947,[8] is the largest in Italian football, with a total capacity of 75,817.[9] The club has a long-standing rivalry with Inter, with whom they contest the Derby della Madonnina, one of the most followed derbies in football.[10]

  3. Calabria going kululu should return cos he can play both CENTER BACK and RIGHT BACK. It really hurts me wen I see him in that black and white jersey

  4. Since Calabria is seemingly being pushed out, that Florenzi is down for the count and that Kalulu has been given up to Juventus, we will actually have to find a good right-back next summer.
And let me emphasize on the word “good”.
