CorSport: Milan face mercato derby for Mastantuono – the interest from both teams

AC Milan have been keeping tabs on Franco Mastantuono for some time, but it seems they will be challenged by Inter for the attacking midfielder.

Since October, reports have suggested that Milan have been looking to South America for a new gem to inspire the team’s attack, and it seems Mastantuono is the preferred option from the region. It is also worth noting that the Rossoneri are also keeping an eye on the situations of Brahim Diaz and Arda Guler.

The attacking midfielder has been compared to Phil Foden and Paulo Dybala in the past, and it could be argued that a player with such qualities could be the difference maker in the Diavolo’s attack with square pegs often being used in round holes by Paulo Fonseca.

Given his qualities, the mercato is going to be heavily contested, and it has previously been reported that Real Madrid are keeping an eye on the starlet – which could aid any moves Milan calculate for the aforementioned Real duo.

However, a new team has come into the mix: Inter. According to Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News 24), the Nerazzurri could open up a derby for the Argentine, despite Moncada’s lengthy scouting of the attacker.

A €45 million clause is tied into his deal, and whilst it would be difficult to see either side paying this fee, their interest will have to be watched.

    1. I doubt Fonseca would want him, he’s too physically weak, and Fonseca has had a good look at him by now, he just doesn’t suit our style of play and will get bullied again

    1. Not physically ready. He’s about the same as Brahim who’s way too physically weak to thrive in the team. What we should’ve done was get Barak seasons ago and developed him. We need a physical Trequartista.
