CM: Milan remain ‘fearful’ of Jimenez clause despite Real Madrid’s plans

Alex Jimenez’s future is hopefully with AC Milan for the foreseeable future, however, the club are not too confident of this fact.

There have been constant rumblings about Jimenez and his career after this summer in recent months, with Real Madrid’s clause being a big factor on the future. So, with his improved performances of late, there is a greater fear of his exit.

The €9 million clause hangs over the Rossoneri, given they have no say in the proceedings, despite plans to try and negotiate that clause shortly. Nevertheless, there has been no movement yet, so there is still a vulnerability.

It is no surprise then that Milan are ‘fearful’ of Madrid’s approach, as Calciomercato.com state this afternoon, considering the Spanish giants are making plans for the future, which will involve at least one move this summer.

Nevertheless, it seems that the club will settle on Trent Alexander-Arnold and wait for the return of Dani Carvajal, who should be fully fit again for the start of the season. Furthermore, the report states that the ‘choice has been made’, which surely rules out a move.

You would imagine that the Diavolo will still enter negotiations with Real in the summer, but it seems they may be the ones benefiting from those discussions, rather than what was originally, and still is, feared.

  1. I think Milan should just let him go. Most overated player on this team. Even if real madrid doesn’t take him back, they should try and cash in on him anyway. Shocking defending every game, gets blown by with ease. And looses the ball going forward alto of the time, missed passes, failed 1v1s, it’s about 1 good involvement every 12 times he has the ball.

        1. Calling him over rated is just plain unbelievable. The boy doesn’t have such rating in the team not to talk of being over rated. He is a young player with raw skills and ready to be trained, he is often one of the better performers in the last game with a lot of improvements in his game. Your comment on him is surely a Milan fan type

          1. You obviously haven’t watched the games. I believe that he has potential, but this is a team that needs to win games not to develop and grow young potentials. We need to prioritize established players not could be’s

    1. Have you ever watched the young lad play?

He is mostly let down by the senior players around him, dude is almost too good for his age.

      1. I’m not saying he is garbage, just very overrated, I ask if you have watched any of the games or only read the inflated player ratings that these guys post after every game?

        1. It’s more that he’s defensively suspect. I’d agree with you if we were sticking with 4231 or similar.

But the recent switch to wing back has really helped the youngster. He has less defending to do, while able to break forward and showcase his attacking abilities.

By overrated do you mean potential world class? If so yes that’s probably too far. But €9mn release clause, he’s definitely better than that. Would hope Real don’t trigger it.

Plus, he counts as homegrown i believe from next season, badly needed in this squad. Would be foolish not to try renegotiate with Real and attempt to keep Jimenez long term.

          1. That’s a respectable opinion, I agree he is worth way more than €9, what i mean by overrated is that all these people and these articles act like if real madrid take him back that this team may as well fold because the team would fail, also the authors of these articles giving him inflated reviews after every game holding him to a different standard than the rest of the team. Some performances would be given a 3 if it was theo hernandez, but because it’s him he gets 6s and 7s.

To me the best thing would be to get him from real and sell him for €20-30 to another team

  2. If there was a brick wall in front of him he would try to run through it !! He does not work well offencely with Pulisic. I agree there is no time to develop him…… Let him go and get a seasoned player !

    1. Would you prefer Alex or Saelemaekers? Other than Walker these are our options, management won’t spend on a RWB given our midfield needs.

  3. He has a lot of value, but it’s clear he has problem w Pulisic. I’m tired of reading that Theo is his idol. I’d rather him be in love with Milan

  4. Anything about Milan as Madrid’s academy is a joke. How come, one of the most decorated clubs in the world turn as Madrid youngsters’ playground? Milan should stand among the best clubs, but we keep trying to develop other clubs’ youngsters and then bargaining with their parents clubs.
