Report: Milan and Fiorentina are monitoring the same Genk defender

By Euan Burns -

Both AC Milan and Fiorentina are monitoring Genk left-back Gerardo Arteaga who could be available for a small fee this summer, a report claims.

As has been reported by TMW (via Milan News), Arteaga is going to be in action for Mexico against Uruguay in a friendly on Thursday night and he will be watched by both Fiorentina and Milan, as well as other clubs.

The 23-year-old defender is left-footed and racked up more than 40 appearances last season for Genk in all competitions.

He managed to create four goals for other players and now many feel he is capable of making the leap forward to a bigger club and league.

The valuation of the player is thought to be around €4 million. It is not clear if Milan would want to loan him out or bring him straight into the first team.

He scored twice in the Belgian cup this season but failed to score in the league.
