AC Milan have already wrapped up their first signing ahead of the 2023 summer transfer window, according to a report, and further details on the terms have emerged.
As Calciomercato.com report, it has hardly been kept a secret that Marco Sportiello has chosen to join Milan and will join on a free transfer in January given that it has been reported in the media over the last few months.
Stefano Pioli was actually the main sponsor of this operation because he knows the goalkeeper well having worked with him in Fiorentina in the 2017-18 season, and it means that Milan will get a new deputy to Mike Maignan.
Sportiello will join Milan on a three-year deal worth around €500k net per season and will take over from Ciprian Tatarusanu whose current contract – which is expiring in July – will not be renewed.
The 30-year-old Sportiello will go from being a deputy at Atalanta to having the same role at Milan, given that in recent times with La Dea he has been as a back-up to the former Udinese goalkeeper Juan Musso.
In fact, Sportiello’s last period as a regular starter was with Frosinone in 2018-19, which ended with relegation to Serie B.

Truth is, Milan’s primavera quality is soo far from the main team. GK is a position where you can’t gamble – a young inexperienced GK with no senior match experience is too huge a gamble – and they won’t get the experience they needed just from being 3rd choice GK with particularly no chance to play except for the worst circumstances, where 2 other GK unable to play I.e. Injuries or suspension.
