Opta: Milan forward secures new age-based record among Europe’s strikers

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan forward Olivier Giroud is now the oldest player to be involved in more than 10 goals this season in Europe’s top five leagues.

As has been reported by statistic specialists Opta (via Milan News), Giroud is leading yet another metric when his age is taken into account.

Whilst he has been in a bad patch of form in recent weeks, along with everyone else in the Milan squad, the 36-year-old has now got seven goals and four assists this season.

That means he is the oldest player top have that many goal involvements so far this season. He has also got five goals at home in a single season in the league for the first time since the 2015/16 season when he got seven with Arsenal.

Giroud got the winning goal in the 1-0 win over Torino on Friday night which was crucial to the Rossoneri ending their bad run of form and getting back into the top four.
