Tuttosport: The Milan of the future will be built by Maldini and Massara – renewals imminent

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s project has new impetus after winning a 19th Scudetto and it will almost certainly continue under the current management despite the potential change in ownership.

As reported today by Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the Milan that won the league title this season was the product of a journey that began in 2019 when Paolo Maldini was entrusted with the role of technical director and Ricky Massara joined him to be the sporting director.

Their modus operandi was clear: to build a team full of exciting young talent while respecting budgets and paying attention to the accounts, which are controlled by CEO Ivan Gazidis and Elliott Management portfolio manager Giorgio Furlani.

The result was a team with an average age of 25.7 years in the space of two and a half years winning the league, while the feeling is that the margins for improvement in the project are still very much there, so now they will push on to improve the squad.

Both Maldini and Massara have contracts which expire in June 2022 however their renewal should not be a problem, which is evidenced by the fact they have been working on the summer market for months. The potential sale of the club to RedBird Capital must first be resolved, but the Milan of the future – which is exactly that of the present – will be built by Maldini and Massara.

Furthermore, the fact that the American fund are interested in Milan in the first place means they have expressed their appreciation for the work done by all the Rossoneri management.
