Sampdoria have expressed an interest in signing Matteo Gabbia but AC Milan have made their stance clear, according to a report.
TMW reports that in the last few hours, Milan clarified to Gabbia what their thoughts are regarding his future, after another season in which the young centre-back did get some playing time but was ultimately down the pecking order for the majority.
The Rossoneri told him that they are willing to let him leave on loan, but only after the purchase of another central defender to support the current options of Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu and Simon Kjaer, given Alessio Romagnoli’s imminent exit.
The player wants to play continuously next season and Sampdoria have come forward expressing a desire to facilitate this wish. Their head coach Marco Giampaolo knows him well after his time at Milan, and considers Gabbia as the first choice to replace Yoshida who will leave.
