It was a given that Camarda would leave this summer. A loan seemed the obvious answer, but now reports suggest that he will leave the club with an option to buy. There is, as you would expect, a caveat to this, though.
Milan will retain ‘control’ due to a buy-back clause in the deal, making it a glorified loan, effectively. In addition to this, it will probably help financially, which is not a bad thing, all things considered.
Why Lecce
The formula and club chosen definitely needs to be looked at, and Gazzetta dello Sport have done so today, and the first point of clarity is that the ‘final word’ remains in the hands of the Diavolo, so there can be less panic there.
Camarda’s exit needs to be an opportunity to progress, and moving to Lecce, in the Rossoneri’s eyes, is the place to do so. Guarantees have been provided for different ways to utilise the striker, whilst staying in Serie A will also help, given that other interest was from Serie B.
It is certainly a bit of a risk, but without risk, the reward may be far, far less. Ultimately, it is a risk which Milan control, albeit no longer under their own roof.
