AC Milan are getting more optimistic about the contract renewal of Rafael Leao who still seems very open to remaining at the club, a report claims.
As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), the Rossoneri think that they still have a very good chance of getting Leao to commit his future to the club in the long term.
He is currently away at the Qatar 2022 World Cup and Portugal have booked their place in the Round of 16, so he has at least one game still to play. That means he cannot be negotiated with directly until his return.
His comments after the match against Uruguay suggest that he knows he will be talking with Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara upon his return from Qatar, and he also said he had a good chat with Maldini before leaving Italy.
His deal runs out in June 2024 and there is a lot of interest in him.
