CM: Milan set to net capital gain of almost €10m from sale of winger

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are set to make a nice profit from the sale of Jens Petter Hauge which will go towards the funds for the summer market, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Hauge operation turned out to be a winning move for the Milan management, at least from an economic point of view. The Norwegian was bought from Bodo/Glimt in the summer of 2020 after his excellent performance in the Europa League qualifier for around €4.5m, but was allowed to leave after one season.

It was Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt that pushed hard and managed to close a loan deal with an option to buy, but it becomes an obligation to buy once their survival in the top flight is confirmed.

That is now almost certain to happen despite some early season struggles, meaning Hauge should make a permanent move to Frankfurt for a total figure of €12m, thus generating a sizeable capital gain.

Doing some calculations, Hauge signed for Milan on a five-year deal, meaning his remaining book value after two years of amortisation would be around €2.7m, thus resulting in a capital gain of €9.3m.

    1. The kid went from Bodo-Glimt to AC Milan mid-season, that’s a huge move. Then after six months got sent to Germany. I don’t care that much that he’s no longer here, but give him time to settle and I still believe he can become really good, he’s got loads of potential. That said, I’m happy for the money boost 😉

      1. I watched an interview with norways international coach ståle solbakken before hauge was loaned out and he made it pretty clear that players like hauge would need to play consistently to get called up to the national team and as that wasnt really in the cards i tend to believe that hauge himself pushed for the move rather than being unwanted by the management at ac milan.
Hauge has great technical skills and deffently could have a fine career ahead of him but a great ammount of milan fans was moaning like a wailling choir day in day out for the entire summer on all milan related medias proclaiming that we was selling the next messi or christiano ronaldo.
