CM: Milan hope to save €1m from midfielder’s exit as Chelsea open to contract termination

Tiemoue Bakayoko’s exit from AC Milan is ‘only a matter of time’ as Chelsea have opened up to a new solution, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com report that Bakayoko is not even a small part of Stefano Pioli’s plans and that is why his farewell could arrive by the end of January. He joined on a two-year loan with an option to buy that become an obligation upon reaching a minimum number of appearances, but he has made just 18 appearances with zero coming this season.

Paolo Maldini’s idea is to end the loan early but in order for that to become a reality things need to line up right. The news from today is Chelsea’s willingness to terminate his contract, which expires in 2024, if they can find an agreement on severance pay.

Bakayoko would then be free to find a new team on a free transfer, with Adana Demirspor and Olympiacos keen. In this scenario, Milan expect to save around €1m gross in wages.
