Speaking ahead of Milan’s home clash with Bologna, head coach Stefano Pioli has opened up on the availability of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Heading into the final straight of the season, Ibrahimovic featured for Sweden in their unsuccessful bid to reach the 2022 World Cup, stepping up his return to full fitness.

With focus back on club football, Pioli confirmed Ibrahimovic is fit and ready for the Rossoneri, quoted by MilanNews: “Ibrahimovic lives with his ailments, but he’s fine.”

Discussing his importance to the side, Pioli drew on the need for his presence, both on and off the field: “Ibrahimovic will have to help the team to give his best as he has always done”.

Pioli does not intend to overuse Ibrahimovic, instead preferring him be available at 100% fitness, and will continue to rotate him with Olivier Giroud in attack, who has proven indispensable himself.

While still vital on the pitch, Ibrahimovic’s influence on the squad is immense behind the scenes, bringing greater composure to a youthful squad in a tight race for the Scudetto.
