Reliable sources confirm Milan are in talks over €7-8m deal for Ibrahimovic’s replacement

By Oliver Fisher -

A couple of reliable sources are reporting that AC Milan have a concrete interest in signing striker Marko Arnautovic to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

After the announcement that Ibrahimovic will leave the club at the end of the season and will goodbye to the Rossoneri fans for the last time tomorrow evening, MilanNews confirm that the management are looking for a new striker to replace him.

Arnautovic is a name on the list and talks between the parties have been going on for a few weeks. However, an economic agreement has not yet been found with Bologna, who hope to obtain a figure of around €7-8m from the sale of the 34-year-old.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano reports that Milan are in contact with the agents of the former West Ham United star as a potential option to replace Ibrahimović. More discussions will follow in the next few days over the details and conditions of the deal.

  1. 34 year old Giroud cost 1mn. I know Arnautovic doest have an expiring contract but cmon 8mn is too much.

I think he’d be decent as a 3rd choice striker /impact sub but given our budget surely we’re overspending here

    1. Way 2 much. Even 5M fee is a lot. And he earns 3.5M. Thats a high number for a 3rd option.
Im still not convinced he is a good choice. Better alternatives on the market

    1. Exactly this. We should be spending our time getting Thuram and then having Thuram, Giroud and Colombo. Drastically better line and super cheap singe Thuram is free. What a joke this is…

    2. How many times do ppl have to explain that free doesnt mean cheap. In-demand free agents like Thuram will want more than 6m per year and his agent would probably want a high commission. It’s not as cheap as you think. Dybala was “free” but costs about 14m per year.

  2. I thought Colombo, Lazetic, then Origi were all supposed to replace Ibra.

You guys have no idea what you’re doing.

  3. it continues, 14mio deal Origi, 3,5mio net was your decision then renew giroud also your decision, now Marko in age of 34, i mean a 30 year old marko would have fitted much better to our front line then oliver, but stand by your decisions, if not you have to correct your mistakes first

  4. Giroud is sheer class ,don’t say otherwise .
How do you replace class …no matter who comes in he will not replace Olivier ..Yes can help out when needed that’s fine ..so Olivier Giroud will still be our main striker next season, and with him we could win the scuddeto again ..When we signed Olivier I said we could win the scuddeto which we did ..We have had a season this one that is not to bad ,,,semi final of champions league and we are in the champions league next season ,get real ….so yes we need some new personal ,a new midfielder and a centre forward to help out when needed ,but not a replacement..
Giroud is far from finished and will play many more games ..We need a new midfielder yes Loftus cheek has been mentioned, and i rate him a lot ,the reason he is big ,physically strong ,and very quick …ideal for providing decent crosses in for Olivier Giroud, and he can also weigh in with a few goals …..only quibble is this ,he does seem injury prone ! If he stays fit then he is an asset and a really good signing..
I am sure we will get a few more players signed .
I have have great faith in our manager pioli and in our team ….it’s AC Milan for me ..

  5. IF he is our 3rd choice…it’s not bad but hopefully less than 7-8M which based on our budget is not insignificant. HOWEVER, I feel that IF we sign Arnautovic I fear that will preclude us buying a STARTING CALIBRE striker. Redbird won’t pay the $$$$. Remember we still have to sell Origi and that may not be an easy task so it could be very likely we end up with: Giroud, Origi, Arnautovic for next season. I hope I’m wrong, but I have a bad feeling we are not getting the striker we all want with this signing.

  6. Pioli and Maldini are clearly not looking for just a backup goal scorer in Arnautovic. They’re Looking for a striker that can hold up play and win and distribute a long ball direct from Maignan to release Leao amongst others. Simple.

  7. Milan management is obsessed with old strikers. For me this is a bad move. We already have Giroud at 36yrs old why another 30+ striker?

Balogun or Openda should be the main targets with Thuram as a free agent. Smh

  8. An excellent back-up, look at how useful Dzeko has been for Inter. Signing Arnautovic does not mean Milan won’t go for a young striker.

  9. It seems like this might be a bad transfer, everyone here complain; too old, too expensive for sub, clown, management doesn’t know what are they doing…, but people were also complaining about Theo(why do we need this clown), Leao(sell him and leave Hauge instead), Tomori(a waste from chelsea), Kjear(too old, not needed), and they all shut down critics…, sure Maldini makes mistakes, but he made much more good choices tough. Forza Milan!
