CM: Milan intensify talks with agent of Barcelona striker Lewandowski – the situation

AC Milan’s hunt for a top striker continues, and they seem to be zoning in on attempts to convince Robert Lewandowski.

Milan’s slump in terms of results has coincided with problems in their attack. Christian Pulisic hasn’t scored in the league since December 28th, Santiago Gimenez for 333 days, Niclas Füllkurg has been dry for around 80, Christopher Nkunku for 63 and Rafael Leao for 37.

Beyond the data of the collective and the individuals, the Rossoneri’s deficiency compared to Inter is the lack of a prolific forward. Massimiliano Allegri has sought and achieved balance this year, but hasn’t solved a problem the team has been struggling with for several years.

A call to Lewandowski

Calciomercato.com report that Milan and Juventus are chasing Robert Lewandowski, ready to compete for the Polish striker should he decide to end his time at Barcelona for one last major challenge in Serie A.

This deal is possible on one condition: a drastic salary cut, expected to drop from his current €20m to a sustainable level of around €6-7m net per year. In the background, there remains strong interest from the Chicago Fire, willing to cover the huge salary he earned in Spain (around €30m gross).

Lewandowski’s contract with Barcelona expires in July, and they seem inclined to move on to a different striker. The time seems ripe for a departure, so the Milan management – after several contacts – have decided to further discuss the matter with agent Pini Zahavi and his team.

Direct contact has taken place in recent days between all parties, and Milan have expressed their full and concrete interest. These discussions are intended to determine whether the player will accept the financial enticement from overseas or show some willingness to meet the Rossoneri’s needs.

  1. Please make this happen 🙏 But Allegri and infatuation with 352 remains a problem for next season no matter who we get up front…

    1. I can’t help but feel that this is another stop gap when we need a real long term solution. We keep kicking the can down the road.

      1. Not only you don’t need 2 No 9s playing next each other but you shouldn’t play like that. The result would be worse than us playing to wingers or No 10s same time in attack this year.

  2. Haven’t watched a lot of him this season but he was really bad against Atletico yesterday. Better spend the money elsewhere

  3. Please god — make it stop!

I don’t want him here. He has next to none affinity to the club, never expressed desire to play for this club, he’s old, full of pride, glory and past achievements.

Man, this is not what Milan, or italian football in general needs. These type of transfers are one of the reasons Italy crashed out for the 3rd time in a row.

Some may cherish this “big name”, but as for me, I don’t want neither, be it Lewandowski, Klopp or Guardiola. Milan needs a revolution! Same as the whole Italian football association.

    1. The only reason this has a chance of happening is that he will stop playing after that completely. His dad who died and never sam him play a serious game was a Milan fan. Apparently when he was a child he promised his dad he would play in Serie A. Other than that there is no reason for him to come here and he doesn’t need the club. He has no one to mentor here and he can go elsewhere and get a lot more money.

      1. Interesting trivia, good to know.

I’d keep 2 strikers for the first team, Camarda & Kostic. Doesn’t matter who scores 0 goals, them or Gimenez. At least they would develop and be given a chance to shine. Maybe one of them is the future Lewandowski.
