Tuttosport: Milan have launched offer for Retegui as Tigre plot next move – the situation

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are one of five teams who have made an offer to sign Mateo Retegui ahead of the summer, according to a report.

As Tuttosport reports, a few hours ago Sergio Massa – Minister of the Economy for the Republic of Argentina and someone close to Tigre – spoke about the future of Retegui after his call-up to the Italian national team and confirmed the presence of multiple offers from Europe.

“When Juan Román Riquelme became vice president of Boca Juniors he explained to us that he had the idea of loaning young players who could not find space with the Xeneizes [Boca] not only to my Tigre, but also to Defensa y Justicia,” he said.

“This is why he has set up a network of player loans on which Boca Juniors has, however, maintained the right to repurchase. Retegui is one of these players. Mateo was the top scorer last season and was called up by the Italian national team.

“Five different offers have arrived in the last three weeks which give Boca Juniors and Tigre the possibility to sell the striker. Four of these offers come from European clubs.”

Tigre have the option to acquire 50% of Retegui for $2.4m by June 30, and everything indicates that they have already closed the deal with Boca to acquire half of his right to then sell the 23-year-old by mutual agreement.

The four European clubs are Milan, Inter and Atalanta in Serie A and one from Spain, namely Atlético Madrid. The Nerazzurri have moved through Dario Baccin, the right-hand man of Piero Ausilio, who has already entered into the first talks with the Tigre.

  1. How is it possible that we lose a deal from Inter man go away, with them he will probably be great and we regret it… they need to be creative (will sell/let players walk away so they have some money) but we have zero debt. If we want him, make an offer. Maldini is just more lazy then Marotta

  2. One week ago most people here were saying Retegui was trash. Now he’s scored 2 goals in 2 appearances for the national team and other clubs are making moves. The same people will be moaning about how Maldini and Massara are trash because we did didn’t get him when he scores the next goal in the derby.
