CorSera: Four crucial returnees and some help in January – Milan want to fight for the title

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have made it through to the end of 2021 still firmly in the title race, but now some help is needed in the January window to strengthen the squad.

This morning’s edition of il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes that Stefano Pioli has almost performed a miracle and was able to bring his injury-ravaged Milan to second place in the standings. Leaders Inter are only four points away and therefore the Scudetto dream is still within reach, but next month some signings are necessary.

The good news is that Zlatan Ibrahimovic – who missed the last match against Empoli due to a knee injury – is all fine as the checks showed that the Swede suffered nothing serious and therefore the attacker will be available for the match against Roma on January 6. Davide Calabria, Ante Rebic and Rafael Leao should all return too.

In the transfer market the priority is a central defender who can replace the injured Simon Kjaer and the name at the top of the list is that of Sven Botman from Lille, for whom Maldini and Massara want on a Tomori-style formula, i.e. a loan with option to buy. At the moment a signing for the attack is not in their mind, but things could change.
