MN: Milan could use Kalulu transfer tactic to sign Premier League star

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan could try and use the same transfer tactic as they did for Pierre Kalulu to sign Aston Villa’s Carney Chukwuemeka, a report claims.

As has been reported by Milan News today, the Rossoneri are weighing up a move for the English youngster but they could decide to be very patient with it.

Milan have been very astute in the transfer market in recent season and one example was how they waited a year for Kalulu’s Lyon contract to expire before then paying a small compensation fee to sign the Frenchman.

He has gone on to become a very important player in Stefano Pioli’s side and they could try the same for Aston Villa’s Chukwuemeka given he is out of contract next summer.

He would cost £20 million if the Rossoneri were to sign the 2003 class midfielder this summer and he is a serious target, especially if Renato Sanches does not join.

  1. Only Kalulu didn’t have as many big clubs on his tail and was expected to stay at Monaco until late in the race. This guy has clearly been advised he can chase decent money next year. There’s a chance for Milan I suspect, promising a similar development path to Dortmund, but it’s not a very likely one IMO

  2. I don’t think that Carney IMHO has the emotional intelligence, nor the quality of adviser around home to survive a job abroad. He is a good player! But that is only a small part of the success equation!!

  3. The most ridiculous transfer issue this season.

Pierre Kalulu is no. 2 CB, currently (after Fikayo Tomori).
Carney Chukwuemeka will be only 4th choice pivots after Sandro Tonali, Ismael Bennacer, & Tommasso Pobega.

    Exchange a 2nd strongest CB for a 4th pivot ?

  4. Definitely a talent for the future and would love to get him but cannot see us spending 20M on him now (we don’t even have that left in Budget) when he is available for free next season. We will wait until January to make move if he isn’t sold by end of summer.

    1. I don’t think anyone called him a “star”. So not sure who that is directed at. I said he was a talent for the future. Who knows if he develops or not. Not everyone can be like Kalulu. But I trust M&M&M and if they like him then hope we get him. But we aren’t spending 20M on him now when we can sign him on a pre-contract for a nominal development fee in January.
