Romano: Kessie yet to make final choice on future as Barcelona remain interested

By Mitchell Wilks -

Franck Kessie remains undecided on his future beyond this season, with Barcelona still in contact with his agent over a deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Kessie’s contract with Milan expires in June and despite the club tabling an offer to renew – as per multiple sources – the midfielder is yet to sign a new deal.

According to Romano, Barcelona have been in touch with Kessie’s agent since December, but the race to secure his services remains open, with other clubs also showing interest.

The Ivorian is yet to make a final choice, but won’t be short of options. Milan are prepared to retain Kessie should he drop his excessive wage demands, while Premier League sides have also been regularly linked with him in the past 12 months.

Kessie has been key in Milan’s resurgence under Stefano Pioli and has featured 24 times in all competitions this season, but does not feel completely irreplaceable.

  1. He’d have renewed by now if he were interested in anything other than money. As it is, he’s caused disruption and disharmony within the squad whilst being paid a lot of money to perform, and failing to do so. F*** him.

  2. Pioli (as any coach in a similar situation) should let the players who actually want to play for the club play. Kessie doesn’t want to be there and it shows.

  3. I don’t believe that Kessie’s mind is ‘elsewhere’ as if he wanted that big pay raise he’d be trying his hardest to get that. Last year he was a beast and everyone know that, probably vious years and this year he hasn’t been anything special and hes not worth 8mil a year. Let him walk, he’ll be forgotten quickly
