Last season AC Milan won nine times by a scoreline of 2-0 making it the most recurring result, but in 2021-22 things have reverted to type somewhat.
As our colleagues at SempreMilan.it write, in the current season the most common winning margin for the Rossoneri is 1-0, a result achieved seven times. The same scoreline was achieved eight times in the last Scudetto season of 2010-11 under Max Allegri, and nine times in 1993-94 with Fabio Capello at the helm.
This season the winning goal in 1-0 games has been scored by five different players with Rafael Leao having been the scorer twice, both times at San Siro against Sampdoria and most recently Fiorentina, meaning Rafa’s two goals have earned the Rossoneri six points.
That is the same amount of points brought by Olivier Giroud’s two goals that ended with a 1-0 win: the victory against Torino at San Siro early in the season and in the return fixture against Napoli at the Maradona.
Then, there is the winning goal from Brahim Diaz in Round 1 against Sampdoria, Pierre Kalulu’s shot from the edge of the box at San Siro against Empoli and Ismael Bennacer’s volley in Sardinia against Cagliari. Seven times 1-0, 7 goals for 21 points.
