TMW: Early loan termination and Fiorentina star among Milan’s options to cover for Kjaer

AC Milan are beginning to weigh up their options to reinforce the centre-back department ahead of the January window, according to a report.

On their official website, the club announced that Kjaer underwent an arthroscopy on his left knee for the reconstruction of his anterior cruciate ligament and the re-insertion of his medial collateral ligament. The operation was carried out at the La Madonnina Clinic and was successful, but he will be out for at least six months as a result so cover on the market could be sought.

According to TMW journalist Nicolò Ceccarini, Maldini and Massara are already moving to identify cover for Kjaer. The simplest operation would be to bring back Mattia Caldara, who is currently on loan at Venezia.

The more difficult path is to make a permanent signing, and Nikola Milenkovic is the chosen profile but Fiorentina have no intention of selling him. Only in the face of a very high offer could they be tempted to change their stance.
