AC Milan's Italian coach Stefano Pioli

GdS: Milan lacklustre in Verona but Pioli is right to highlight the team spirit

AC Milan struggled in Verona as it was certainly not their best performance of the season at the Stadio Bentegodi, but they got the win they needed to respond to the Champions League defeat against Chelsea.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) write that the Rossoneri appeared lacklustre and suffered from the energy and the intensity of a Verona side that were clearly fighting with everything they had to impress new head coach Salvatore Bocchetti.

After the game Stefano Pioli highlighted the team spirit of his side, who rode out the difficult moments in the game and backed themselves to find enough quality from somewhere.

“Once again, however, in the difficulties the team has been able to work together, we have individualities that allow us to find the winning play as that of Rebic for Sandro. The glass is full, indeed, full,” he said.

Yesterday’s victory allows Milan to enter a whole week without games in a more serene way. Berlusconi and Galliani will arrive at San Siro on Saturday for a game against Monza, a match with a particular added meaning for the whole Rossoneri club.

For this game, Pioli hopes to have Maignan, Kjaer and De Ketelaere available, whose recoveries will be fundamental for the hectic run of games between now and mid-November when the World Cup break begins.
