MN: Milan lead the way in head-to-head games – their scheduled compared to Inter and Napoli

By Oliver Fisher -

There are those who believe that league titles are won against the so-called ‘smaller’ clubs in the league, but there is also the argument that head-to-head games against rivals are the big ones.

MilanNews writes how the Rossoneri boast the best performance in Serie A in these head-to-head matches and they have already gained the seasonal advantage over Inter after a draw in the first leg and a win in the second leg, so if they finish on equal points – not to be excluded at the moment – Milan would be higher.

Milan have racked up 9 points out of the 18 available against their rivals, collecting 2 wins (against Atalanta and Inter), 2 draws (both against Juve) and only one defeat against Napoli at San Siro, which makes the game against Spalletti’s side on March 6 huge.

After the match at Napoli, Milan will only have Atalanta at San Siro to face among the big names and that will be in the penultimate round of the season. Inter meanwhile have collected 8 points out of 21 available, winning only against Napoli in the first leg, while the Nerazzurri have to play Juve in Turin and Roma at home.

Then there are the European commitments to consider, because Inter and Napoli will face Liverpool and Barcelona over two legs in the Champions League and Europa League respectively, while for Milan the only extra games are the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia against their city rivals on 1 March and 20 April.
