AC Milan want to have a contract agreement in place with Rafael Leao before he leaves for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, a report claims.
As has been reported today by Il Giornale (via Milan News), the Rossoneri want the next month to be when the breakthrough is made in contract negotiations with Leao and his entourage.
The Portuguese forward is certain to be in the national team squad for the World Cup which starts in mid-November and they want to have his future secured by then.
The main reason for this will be the heightened interest in him from wealthier teams if he impresses at the tournament.
Milan could have to fend off some sizable bids for the forward in January if they do not tie him down to a new contract as soon as possible.
Talks are thought to be ongoing but they should ramp up in the coming days and weeks if Milan are to reach their target.
Can’t afford to lose our best player. The new management should’ve taken over in style and renewed him immediately, instead of this joke of a negotiation process. If Leao is lost, it’s a sign of how the owners will behave for years to come 😂.
Give him what he wants please! The others will understand.
No renewal = immediate sale.
Leao knows he has many offers, he can wait. Milan cannot wait. Best thing to do is to sell. Leao may come back injured or lethargic after WC.
AC Milan can’t afford Leo it makes no sense, there are many big-money clubs out there that will be willing to splash out figures that Leo can’t pronounce, and there are plenty of young and upcoming promising players with that money they will be receiving from the sales of Leo could put them in a better position in time to come.
