CorSera: Milan looking for repeat of Naples as Pioli already has XI locked in

Today is the day that the quarter-finals of the Champions League begin and tomorrow’s first leg between AC Milan and Napoli is among the most anticipated matches.

As Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) recall, Napoli are the runaway league leaders and they are well ahead of their opponents in the standings, but earlier in the month Milan went to the Maradona and beat them 4-0, something which alters the narrative.

The win shuffled the pack and it boosted the Rossoneri while taking away a bit of certainty from Luciano Spalletti’s men, while there is also the doubt regarding the presence of Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian is feeling better and is pushing to be present tomorrow evening at San Siro at least on the bench, but the Azzurri don’t want to take any risks.

Milan meanwhile seem to have a different spirit in European competitions and they believe they can reach the semi-finals, while Stefano Pioli should name the same line-up that won 4-0 in the league, with Ismael Bennacer therefore more advanced to limit Lobotka.

Two weeks ago he did it brilliantly and it was one of the tactical moves with which Pioli triumphed over Spalletti. A repeat of the performance in Naples would certainly make the second leg more manageable.
