Report: Milan monitoring 19-year-old Ligue 1 defender after positive scouting reports

By Oliver Fisher -

Another source has claimed that AC Milan are taking an interest in signing young centre-back Maxime Estève from Montpellier after being impressed by scouting reports.

While the need for a centre-back immediately has been dominating the newspaper headlines for the last few days and weeks given the crisis the department has suffered, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are also looking ahead to the future.

According to what is being reported Nicolo Schira, Milan are monitoring the 19-year-old Estève and Rossoneri scouts have watched the Montpellier player in the last few months, ahead of a potential move.

A youth product of Montpellier, Esteve signed his first professional contract with the club on 19 November 2019 and this has been somewhat of a breakout season for him. As a teenager, he made his professional debut for La Paillade during a 3–2 Ligue 1 loss to Olympique de Marseille on 8 August 2021, and has gone on to make 13 league outings for them.
