Repubblica: ‘If the opportunity arose’ – Milan monitoring Vlahovic-Juventus situation

AC Milan would consider a move for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic if he were available on the right terms, a report claims.

Milan decided to invest €35m including bonuses to sign Santiago Gimenez in the winter transfer window from Feyenoord, but he has not scored for over one month and it is reasonable to expect growing pains from a young centre-forward who must learn the ropes in Serie A.

Meanwhile, Tammy Abraham is the deputy and he is only on a dry loan deal from AS Roma, with doubts about the margins for a permanent deal. Then there is Luka Jovic who is on an expiring deal, and Francesco Camarda who recently turned 17.

In the event of Abraham’s farewell, it will be interesting to see who will arrive at Milanello to be the alternative to Gimenez. Journalist Andrea Sereni wrote in La Repubblica: ‘Also pay attention to the Vlahovic-Juventus situation: if the opportunity arose, Milan would not turn away’.

Vlahovic will probably leave Juventus because his contract expires in June 2026 and there does not seem to be any chance of renewal. Without signing a new agreement, the former Fiorentina man could depart for €25-30m.

It remains to be seen what his demands will be in terms of salary, considering that today at Juve he earns €10-12m net per year. Perhaps a transfer to the Premier League is more likely, therefore, but if Max Allegri were to arrive then the scenario could change.

  1. I think Manchester United would allow Hojlund to go out on a paid loan with obligation around 40ML Euros. I would take that gamble over Vlahovic. His salary half the size and he is just as good if not better because he is 3 years younger and still has good potential. He always played well in Serie A. And everyone fails at United so I don’t blame him FULLY for playing bad at United so far.

    1. No. Hojlund was average at best at Atalanta, Manchester United got robbed there. I wouldn’t go for him, lesser version of Piatek.

    2. Hojlund always played well in serie A?
He was in serie A for only 1 season, where he wasn’t even a full time starter and scored a total of 9 goals.
Another Atalanta one season wonder who then goes to a bigger club and fails miserably.
Pass on both Vlahovic and Hojlund.

    3. He doesn’t have 1 good season in his career yet. He is a talent that could be good. Krstovic from Lecce already looks better than him and would cost half the money.

    1. One way or another, the media is really pushing the Juventus to Milan axis, with Paratici, Allegri and now Vlahovic. Maybe we can trade owners too.

  2. We can’t afford his salary. Bebote needs more time to get used to the Italian league. I’m sure he will become better and start scoring regularly.

    1. Agreed. Like it or not we are committed for the next say 18 months, to Gimenez.

While he hasn’t impressed lately, I figure within that time we’ll find a way to unlock his goalscoring prowess. Maybe I’m naive but unlike Piatek / Higuain/ Jovic etc I don’t think Santi will be a flop.

  3. Ooo this could make a lot of sense. The market for Vlahovic is rock bottom right now, and I bet his profile would flourish with this Milan side

    1. Exactly. Milan should have kept Morata this season (season was not going to change much by replacing Morata with Gimenez), and then in the summer go for Osimhen who will only have 1 more year left in his contract with Napoli. His current market value (per Transfermarkt) is 75 M, so instead of having paid 35 M for Gimenez, they should have waited 6 months and put some more money and go for Osimhen. Napoli, at the risk of loosing him for free in a year, would probably have to accept between 50-60 M for him.

      1. Osimhen, when he’s not injured, is a world class striker. Unfortunately that comes with world class wage demands and agents fees.

Even on a free I’m not sure we’d be able to compete for his signature. We have to look cheaper / take more risks rather than proven talents, I know it’s a shame but that’s sadly our reality 😞
