Sky: Milan to make move for Atalanta goalkeeper ahead of next season

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are attempting to sign Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello on a free transfer for next season as a backup goalkeeper, a report claims.

As has been reported by Sky Sport Italia, the Rossoneri have made contact with the agent of Sportiello and are already working to secure a deal for next season.

It is not clear whether this move would make Sportiello the number two goalkeeper at Milan behind Mike Maignan or if he would be behind Ciprian Tatarusanu in the pecking order. At 30 years old, Sportiello is much younger than Tatarusanu.

Juan Musso is the clear starting goalkeeper at Atalanta and with Sportiello out of contract at the end of the season, he seems open to a move elsewhere in the summer.

There is potential for it to be a very simple move to pull off and would mean that Milan have already got their preparations for the 2023/24 season underway, allowing them to focus on more important areas.
