MN: Milan must rediscover their identity against Napoli and wrestle back momentum

By Oliver Fisher -

The big test for AC Milan before the Christmas break comes this Sunday as the Rossoneri face Napoli at San Siro looking to get some momentum back after a tough last few weeks.

MilanNews how disappointment would certainly be the most appropriate word to describe the recent results for Milan who have won just two of their last five games in the league, with a Champions League elimination to throw in there too. A number of costly injuries and not fully convincing performances have certainly not helped, but the Napoli game simply must be where we begin to see some of the fundamental elements of an exciting side.

Milan’s treatment room has never been completely empty but is surely now fitted with revolving doors as players such as Simon Kjaer, Davide Calabria, Ante Rebic, Rafael Leao and others have spent crucial time out. Tomori, Tonali and Kalulu are among those who have become leaders, but the more healthy squad members the better to stop certain players working overtime.

Against Napoli the Rossoneri will have to rediscover their technical and character identity, learning to play with the absentees and finding balance between courageous and exciting attacking play and astute defending with no more mistakes.
