MN: Milan, Newcastle and a smile that says a thousand words – latest on Botman’s future

By Oliver Fisher -

Sven Botman’s name continues to be the subject of intense market speculation as AC Milan still have not yet fully closed the operation.

MilanNews write that the Rossoneri management have had an agreement with Botman over a five-year contract for some time and they believe in the idea of making an investment on him for the present and the future, given he is still young (22) and has different characteristics to both Pierre Kalulu and Fikayo Tomori.

Discussions with Lille are well underway but the Ligue 1 club, due to some financial problems, are hesitating on agreeing the sale to Milan which has given Newcastle the opportunity to raise their bid.

Milan have an agreement and the total approval of Botman, while Lille could also accept the offer, but until they do some Newcastle will try until the end. What can make the difference? Botman was asked about joining Milan in an ESPN interview earlier this week, and he broke out into a big smile that speaks 1000 words.

  1. If the smile speaks a thousand words, no doubt Newcastle or Man Utd’s offers speak millions of them…

Ultimately, it doesn’t matter what he wants if the English teams meet the asking price and Milan don’t want to.

  2. Reports from France, Italy and England have already said Milan won’t match Newcastle’s bid, Milan bid €30 million euro and won’t go any higher Newcastle have already bid higher, therefor as far as Milan are concerned it’s dead in the water right now, as Lille will obviously accept the higher offer.

  3. Forgot to add apparently Milan have only offered him €3 million euros per year, Newcastle have offered him €5 million euros, honestly can’t see this one happening now if the journalists are to be believed.

  4. Except, Milan will play at Champions League…where Newcastle is not. Its the key factor sometimes for some players…beside the amount of cash.
