GdS: Maldini and Massara under no illusions about the situation of Kessie

By Oliver Fisher -

Franck Kessie has been with AC Milan since the summer of 2017 when he joined from Lombardy rivals Atalanta, but it seems his time at the club will soon end.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) talks about the future of Kessie and in particular the renewal of his contract which will expire on June 30, remarking that the more time passes, the lower the chances of reaching an agreement with the Ivorian.

The likelihood of convincing Kessie to stay remains very difficult and for this reason no one is under any illusions among the Milan management that there is still a big hope of a U-turn from the player and his entourage.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are well aware of this, so much so that they have already identified his replacement in Renato Sanches of Lille, who they will try to bring in during the summer window.

  1. Erm… Why do we have to read about this guy everyday? I think it’s a foregone conclusion that he’ll be gone by the end of the season and I’m personally praying that he doesn’t have a change of heart. Players are smart enough to know how to avoid interviews or be tact in their response but this guy had to do what he did without remorse or compunction. I still don’t get it. You should have just kept your mouth shut or said, “my agent will handle it.” Is it difficult?
