GdS: Milan’s first offer for Club Brugge’s De Ketelaere is too low

By Euan Burns -

The first official offer that AC Milan have made for Club Brugge midfielder Charles De Ketelaere is too low and has been rejected, a report claims.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport this morning, Milan are very serious about signing De Ketelaere but their first offer was not high enough to make the move happen.

The Rossoneri’s opening bid was €20 million and some bonuses. The Belgian champions rejected that as it is too low but it is hoped that this first step could cause the negotiations to escalate quickly between the two clubs.

Club Brugge are asking for a minimum of €30 million but in the event that more than one club is bidding, they will be hoping for €35 million.

That is a significant investment for Milan to make in a young player with no Serie A experience but they appear very determined to sign the attacking midfielder very soon.

  1. 20 million is a low ball offer for a player like De Katelere. If he turns out as good as De Bruyne then 35 million will be a bargain.

    1. HAHAHAHAHA… “if he turns out as good as DeBruyne…”!!!!

If he turns out HALF as good as KDB, 40M would be a bargain! KDB is arguably the best midfielder in the world and one of the best PLAYERS in the world.

Listen, I’m excited about the prospects of this kid; but let’s not get too ahead of ourselves here. There’s a LONG LONG way to go before he can truly be even mentioned in the same breath as KDB (other than they’re both Belgian and are attacking midfielders).

  2. Omg. What a waste of….offer. You know it’s deemed too low. Where tf all the sponsorship, rev fund, transfer budget all go

  3. letting kessie, donnarumma, hakan on a free transfer without any compensation is just a huge mistake.

Now they want to make the same mistake again by offering to low?

Buying and Selling players department looks like a chaos from here. dang

  5. Most of you are absolutely ridiculous and must be too young to have ever purchased anything with your own money. This is how negotiations work. You don’t begin by matching the asking price unless you are absolutely desperate. Whether or not this concludes positively for Milan is unknown but this tactic should be fully expected.

    1. You are right…. to a certain extent. There’s also virtue in being decisive and proactive, especially when there are two Prem teams circling both able to offer a higher transfer fee and able to offer significantly higher wages. Not CL teams admittedly, but if they offer 50% more wages, then conceivably CDK may choose to move there, not join us. In this case, if he is valued, we need to act decisively.

  6. You have a valid point, though it must be stressed that outside of some rumours being leaked by the media, we have no real insight as to whether this offer is legitimate or whether there is any competition for his services at all. Either way, this news certainly does not justify the angst and anger being shown by some.

  7. 20M low ball offer lol. He’s under contract for another 3 years? So why would Brugge sell for that low? Send them a solid offer 30M plus 5M bonus or even 25M with 10M bonus – but don’t mess around with this one. I understand the low ball offers when the player is in the last year of his deal (Sanches) but when a player is locked with the team for another 2-3 years we don’t have that much leverage unless his club is in financial ruin or is being relegated. If Elliot/Redbird is “serious” about CDK – then prove it. Put a solid offer on the table and get it done. Training camp has already started and this kid needs to not only get acclimated to a new team, but new League as well. Every day matters. Let’s go Redbird – give the fans something we can get excited about – and I’m not speaking of a Messias redemption lol
