Di Marzio: Milan have offered extension to Romagnoli but will ‘not be unprepared’ if he leaves

AC Milan have made an offer to Alessio Romagnoli to extend his contract but the response of the defender is awaited, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Speaking on Sky (via MilanNews), the journalist gave an update on Romagnoli’s contractual situation and he confirmed that Milan’s offer is ‘lower than what he currently earns’ given that he currently earns quite a lot compared to other key players in the side.

If Romagnoli decides to meet Milan’s needs – which is to reduce his salary – then he will be able to continue playing for the Diavolo. In the event that he were to decide to leave and try something new then ‘Maldini and Milan will find a way to not be unprepared’.

Romagnoli joined from Roma back in the summer of 2015 and he instantly established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet, even getting the captain’s armband, but he has struggled in 2021 having lost his place as a guaranteed starter following Fikayo Tomori’s arrival.
