AC Milan are the team who are currently leading the race to sign Houssem Aouar of Lyon, according to a report.
According to what Matteo Moretto of Relevo said on Twitter, Aouar ‘has not decided anything yet’ regarding his future but at the moment he is prioritising the idea of playing in the Champions League.
He goes on to add that Milan are ‘on pole’ to land him but there are ‘still months to go’, which is pretty much a confirmation that the interest surrounding Aouar is regarding a free transfer when his contract expires in June rather than a move this month.
The 25-year-old continues to be linked with a move to the Rossoneri who could certainly use more creativity in their midfield, but for the playmaker role there is already Charles De Ketelaere, Brahim Díaz and Yacine Adli in the queue, even if Brahim’s loan expires at the end of the season.
I have to agree with part of the headline at least, Milan right now is definitely on a pole.
I’m sure there’ll be a few twists to this tale but…
Aouar on a free is likely a big upgrade on Diaz, if we can get him makes sense not to pay the 20mn for Brahim.
It never will make sense to buy Diaz.
Yet all the player Milan have Zlatan and Adli are the only two with any creativity. And how many minutes have they played this season? Oh, right…
*Yet of all the players…
Milan was considered the favorite for another French player on a free transfer 2 years ago.
Florian Thauvin, but he chose that it was better to move to the Mexico league in his prime of his career, age 27, than to come to Milan.
Sent back brahim to madrid and try to catch on free for Aouar…
