SM: Milan Women close to signing young full-back from Roma

By Steph Insixiengmay -

The Serie A Femminile season might be over but Milan aren’t resting on their laurels. The team has been busy bulking up their squad ahead of next season. The latest name to emerge on the team’s radar is full-back Angelica Soffia.

Soffia is an up-and-coming defender who currently plays for AS Roma. The defender is only 21 years old and has a huge upside, as she’s already been summoned to play for Italy at the senior level. The right-back is currently training with the Azzurre ahead of the Women’s Euros in July and is expected to make the final squad.

The defender has played a total of 65 games for Roma and helped them qualify for next season’s UWCL. She also helped the Giallorosse win the Coppa Italia in 2021, where she played a part in defeating Milan in the final.

As per SempreMilan’s Luca Maninetti, negotiations between Milan and the defender are underway and there is a 95% chance that she will join the team. If she does so, then it would be a major coup for the Rossonere, as she would not only be signing a defender with a lot of promise, but she would also be weakening one of their domestic rivals in the process.

Signing Soffia would also be a sign of intent, as it shows that Milan have an eye toward the future and are working towards building a strong team that will be competitive for many years to come.
