CorSport: Milan want Liverpool striker on a free to divert funds towards three other signings

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are planning their strategy ahead of the summer transfer window and it could revolve around the signing of a striker on a free transfer, a report claims.

According to il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), the possibility of signing Liverpool striker Divock Origi on a free transfer appeals to the management because they know that by saving on the purchase of the centre-forward in terms of transfer fee, they could then allocate financial resources to other objectives. There are three other areas where the club want to intervene. The first is to sign a new centre-back and it has been known for some time now that Sven Botman of Lille is the number one target for that role.

Then, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara must work on Franck Kessie’s replacement (Renato Sanches is the first name on the list) and they also want to upgrade on the right wing too.

  1. The reason management choose origi because he already know how to play on gegenpressing with Klopp as coach. Gegenpressing almost similar to Pioli high pressing. Thats is why management choose origi than the other 2 free transfer striker belotti and lacazette

    1. Agreed. Solid move IMO considering our budget and Origi’s familiarity with our “press” system. We aren’t spending big $ on a striker until Ibra retires. Sign Kamara for free as well and spend big on a RW – young and dynamic (not Berardi IMO).

  2. Milan needs to first of all, sign everyone they can on free transfer before folding cash to sign others.

    We can get the following players on free;
    1. Kamara Boubacar
    2. Warren Bondo
    3. Boubacar Coulibaly
    4. Fabio Carvalho
    5. Marcelo Brozovic
    6. Paulo Dybala

      1. Dybala is coming out of contract. Would be a free transfer but his wages are too high. He wants $8m + to renew
