GdS: ‘At all costs’ – Milan outline plan to keep Maignan despite contract impasse

Mike Maignan’s contract situation at AC Milan is difficult to unpack. There has been positivity recently, but how much that actually means must be seen.

Everything at the moment revolves around Maignan, and it is understandable why, as frustrating as it may be. The Frenchman’s fine form has come at a time when Milan have no real strength over his contract situation.

So, with every performance, there is the double-edged sword of the possibility that he may be leaving at the end of the season.

Not done yet

As Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes, the club are not letting go of him and want to renew him ‘at all costs’. They will do everything possible to keep him at the club, and there is no deadline other than the official one.

There is a possibility that the Frenchman can match Leao’s wages, with the Rossoneri already aware that a ‘last attempt’ offer may be a bullet to bite. Allegri has made his stance clear, as have the club, who want him to stay.

However, Maignan is remaining quiet, letting his performances do the talking. Ultimately, he is in control of the situation, but saying the wrong things could reduce any hold he has, as the report suggests.

With a return to the Champions League, there will be greater strength for negotiations, and if a second star could be achieved, who knows? After all, the Frenchman is happy in Milano, and an ending is no longer obvious. There is a lot of time left to find answers.

  1. Pay him the highest-level wage he deserves if that is what it takes to keep him. He is one of the best, if not the best goalkeeper in the world right now. Forza Milan

    1. Completely agree! He is our most valuable player. He wins us games – saves us time and time again plus he has been underpayed for so long time. It is only fair to match Leaos salary or even Rabiot.

      1. You guys have such short term memories, how old are you?

He doesnt keep up this level of performance, either injury or form, no he is nowhere near the ‘best goalkeeper in the world’

Stop overrating him because of current form and forgetting everything else

          1. The way I wish Furlani just stuck to finances and left player business to someone else. He is absolutely clueless in that department

    2. Perfectly right sir though you left something out i am afraid..
THE CLOWN WHO CAUSED THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE KICKED AWAY FRON MILAN MANAGEMENT STRAIGHTAWAY. WE DO NOT NEED STUPID FOOLS HANGING AROUND.
