CM: After Manchester and Madrid the Rossoneri overcome emergency again

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan went into yesterday’s game against Roma battling selection problems, injuries and disruption, but once again they came away with a huge result.

As Calciomercato.com reports, the Rossoneri faced Roma with Kjaer, Calabria, Tomori and Romagnoli all out and Stefano Pioli’s side proved to be stronger than the adversity that faced them. It is not the first time either that Milan have come out positively from an emergency.

The 3-2 win over Lazio in December 2020 was certainly an example of this, when without Kjaer, Bennacer, Kessie and with Leao forced to play as a striker, the Diavolo won thanks to the last minute goal from Theo Hernandez. The impressive 2-0 win against Hellas Verona last season was a crucial victory too when Theo Hernandez, Bennacer, Calhanoglu, Rebic and Ibra were all not available, as Krunic and Dalot scored.

The Europe League second knockout game against Manchester United at Old Trafford is another example as Kjaer’s header earned a draw, while staying with the European theme the 1-0 victory away against Atletico Madrid sealed by a goal from Junior Messias was another example of winning in difficulty with selection problems.
