CorSera: Milan to collect big payment with right result against RB Salzburg

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan stand to earn around €20 million if they get the right result against RB Salzburg on Wednesday and get into the next round of the Champions League, a report claims.

According to a report from Corriere della Sera (via Milan News), the Rossoneri will be desperate to get into the Round of 16 for more than just sporting reasons.

Whilst it is certainly financially lucrative to be in the group stages of Europe’s premier club tournament, the latter stages of the tournament are where the money really starts to get made.

Milan only need to draw or beat the Austrian side at San Siro on Wednesday evening to secure their place in the next round and the €20 million.

Getting into the next round opens up a larger share of the market pool, it brings more participation money, prize money for winning games, and gate receipts from getting to host at least one more big European night at San Siro.

    1. So you think Milan doesn’t spend for operational cost like paying the staff, maintaining the facilities, and all those busses / plane and hotels when Milan play away are clearly not cheap.
