CorSport: Exaggerated costs complicate Milan’s defender pursuit but Ajax man is an opportunity

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are eager to sign another centre-back before the end of the month but they have run into a cost-related problem, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) confirms that the Rossoneri are continuing their search for the new central defender to help Stefano Pioli’s push to try and win a first league title since the 2010-11 season.

However, they are having problems because of the exaggerated costs of the other defenders around Europe such as Abdou Diallo of PSG, Eric Bailly of Manchester United, Sven Botman of Lille and Bremer of Torino – all profiles that Milan like but cannot afford this month.

This is where Perr Schuurs has emerged as an option, as the Ajax defender has made just three appearances as a starter in the league in the last four months having lost his spot in the starting line-up. He is only 22 years of age so corresponds to the Elliott Management diktat, and he could leave Amsterdam for €15m.
