MN: Milan’s plan for January to focus on renewals and summer 2022 additions

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are not expecting to be active on the new signing front in January but instead will focus on the renewal of two star players, a report claims.

According to MilanNews, the Rossoneri will only intervene  on the market in particular cases, such as the situation linked to Mike Maignan. If it turns out that the Frenchman is facing an extended absence then action could be taken.

Instead, the focus will be on using the players acquired in the summer, who have not shone so far. Maldini and Massara will also focus heavily on the renewals of Rafael Leao and Ismael Bennacer, hoping to close both by the end of January.

The talks between Enzo Raiola and the Rossoneri management are going ahead with optimism, the parties have become very close but there is a distance between offer and demand of around €500-600k net per season.

Regarding Leao, the mission is more complicated due to the compensation to Sporting CP but even in his case the management are not giving up and they want to secure a renewal.
