There is a need for AC Milan to rid themselves of a few this summer, and it seems that action must be taken sooner rather than later.
Squad registration rules are not a new thing. In fact, they can be a real pain if you don’t manage them correctly in the long term, and Milan are now facing a battle against them. One that is solvable, though.

The situation
As Milan News write, the squad must be thinned. Without European football, there is no need to have a massively deep squad, so some players will have to be cut from the ranks. Of course, this also means that tactics have to come into play.
There is a need for Italians in the team, both as a desire and for registration. So, Tommaso Pobega, who is looking more likely to stay, Matteo Gabbia and Marco Sportiello can cover this. However, Lorenzo Colobo now comes into the ‘Over 22’ bracket, so he takes up a valuable spot.
Additionally, Yunus Musah will now be counted in the same category, which is a big reason why an exit is being attempted.
Devis Vasquez, Ismael Bennacer, Yacine Adli, Noah Okafor, Alexis Saelemaekers and Luka Modric – should he arrive – will also add to the list, taking it to 20, when the limit is 17. So some would have to depart.
The market has not yet opened, so there is time. However, plans must be made to lower the list…

And this is the bigger issue. No doubt this article will get comments from all the FIFA experts about “Sell X, Y and Z” but ultimately we’re in a market where some of these players will be difficult to find takers for at the moment – it’s not all up to us to choose.

Musah will probably go to Napoli and play in the CL and fight for the scudetto with a coach who knows how to get the best out of him. Milan will play no CL and will likely struggle for a top 4 finish.
