Milan Primavera 2-3 Verona: Abate’s boys concede last-minute winner

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan Primavera suffered a tough defeat against Hellas Verona earlier this evening, despite coming back from 2-0 behind. A huge defensive error in the last second proved to be costly for Ignazio Abate’s boys.

Milan’s Primavera side have not made things easy for themselves this season. We have seen many comebacks already, with many of them resulting in wins, and the fans got their hopes up tonight as well. After conceding two goals in the first half, the Rossoneri found a way back.

Chaka Traore brought some life to the game with a free-kick in the 64th minute (see video below). It was a great striker and the winger himself seemed surprised that he managed to pull it off.

Just 12 minutes after coming on, in the 85th minute to be precise, the Dane Alexander Simmelhack brought Milan level with a splendid back-heel finish in the box. And once the Rossoneri scored that, many believed they would go on to claim all three points.

However, when pushing for the winner in the final seconds of the game, a clearance ended up at the feet of Miland defender Pietro Parmiggiani. He proceeded to make a huge error, failing to get control of the ball, and allowed a Verona player to slip the ball through to a teammate.

Noah Raveyre, the goalkeeper, was evidently caught in two minds/not prepared as he stood outside the box when the Verona striker scored with an easy finish. For Abate’s men, therefore, a huge error cost them the game and unfortunately, it’s not the first one from Parmiggiani either.

It should be noted that Abate was without the likes of Jan-Carlo Simic, Clinton Nsiala, Alex Jimenez and Kevin Zeroli today. These are normally starters but have been called up for Milan’s game against Salernitana tonight. The injuries of the first team, therefore, are starting to affect the Primavera as well.
