Milan Primavera 3-5 Frosinone: Second half capitulation condemns Abate to debut defeat

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan Primavera began their 2022-23 league season in a pretty dismal fashion as a second half horror show saw them lose 5-3 at home against Frosinone.

Ignazio Abate’s men responded well to the early goal from the away side as they quickly drew level through El Hilali and then took the lead moments later when Rossi finished off an excellent move full of one-touch football. El Hilali secured a brace, and things were looking rosy after 45 minutes.

However, Frosinone came roaring back after the break and scored four unanswered goals as the Rossoneri’s defence totally capitulated in truth. A mixture of slack marking and giving the ball away in dangerous areas saw the visitors draw level before they stole in late on and sealed the deal in added time.

There were several positive signs in the first half including the technical ability of various players – most of whom we picked out in a feature yesterday – but the lack of ability to absorb periods of pressure and the concession of very avoidable goals means Abate has some work to do.
