Milan Primavera coach says ‘we are laying the foundations for the future’

AC Milan Primavera coach Ignazio Abate has said that he and his team are laying the foundations for the future of the Primavera setup.

Speaking during an interview with club media (via Milan News), the former Rossoneri defender spoke with pride about the job he is doing with the U19 squad.

He only recently became the Primavera coach and is having to learn rapidly during a busy schedule. The team has struggled in recent weeks in their domestic campaign but they have been very impressive in the UEFA Youth League.

Despite this slightly erratic form between conversations, Abate is convinced that he and his staff are doing a good job for the academy and the club.

“I am convinced that we are laying the foundations for the future of the Primavera. I love building from the back and having the ball because it’s with the ball that you improve.”

He also stressed that he likes to give the young stars as much freedom as possible to express themselves on the pitch.

“And I let the youngsters play, without fear of sending them out on the pitch with the older players.”

Abate played for Milan between 2009 and 2019 and made almost 250 appearances for the Rossoneri.
