CM: Milan Primavera among the best four in Europe but Pioli remains hesitant

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s Primavera side continue to make strides in Europe and yet Stefano Pioli does not seem to consider any player from the squad as close to being ready, a report claims.

A lot of the recent attention has understandably been on the Primavera’s excellent European run continued as they booked their place in the semi-finals of the UEFA Youth League with a 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid earlier this month.

Calciomercato.com write how a lot of Serie A teams are under budgetary constraints and that is also the case for Milan, so while it is not expected that all 20+ players from the Primavera get first team minutes this season, zero seems like the other extreme.

It must be said that Milan Primavera are struggling a bit in the league having gotten into a fight with Hellas Verona, Napoli, Cagliari and Atalanta to avoid the relegation play-offs, but that is more down to the younger average age of the starting XI compared to teams like Lecce and Frosinone (who are the top two in the league) who play more physically ready players.

There are some players in particular who could be useful to Stefano Pioli and who could at least become rotation options. Chaka Traoré is the main threat in the attack and continues to contribute goals, Filippo Scotti does the same in the same role while Hugo Cuenca is a playmaker with a very bright future.

In midfielder Dariusz Stalmach and Kevin Zeroli look destined for big things and at full-back Adam Bakoune – who was at the winter training camp with Pioli – as well as central defender Jan-Carlo Simic also do not seem far away.

  1. First. The big question is if Pioli still Milan coach for next season? He could be sacked if Milan didn’t qualify for UCL.

Second. Right now the first team already has 30 players. So there’s no room for Primavera players until next season and that also depends on who’s gonna leave and who’s gonna stay. If next season Leao, Diaz, CDK, Adli, Ibra, Giroud, Origi, Theo and more first team players leave Milan then maybe Pioli or new coach gonna choose some Primavera players for the first team.

Third. Pioli possibly gonna wait for Red Bird moves. If they wants to spend a lot of money on transfer market and put target for Scudetto / UCL trophy then i doubt there’s room for Primavera players.

    1. “If they wants to spend a lot of money on transfer market…”

      ZERO chance.
RedBird will focus all money for stadium.
Our Primavera is pretty good, we need a coach who has BIG ENOUGH BALLS to integrate the youth alumni.
Besides, we’re lacking on home grown products.

      1. This isn’t about having balls but it’s about having brains.

If you think 17-18 years old kids can compete against strong teams for sucdetto or UCL trophy then you’re out of your mind. Primavera kids like Traore or Coubis will be eaten alive by teams like City, Madrid, Munchen, or Napoli.

        1. Exactly, we are playing against Hajduk next. By this idiotic idea Hajduk would have their whole team removed and those kids would play, since Croatian league is funny compared to Serie A. But it doesn’t work that way…

  2. Pioli is idiot that’s why
He burned Romanioli for Jallallu or forever name it is
He burned Gabia Calabria next will be Tonali

After that we will go on train station on nice to pick up some player

    1. Hahahahahahah, dude even Hajduk (our next oponent) doesn’t play kids in their first team, in the Croatian league. And you want someone to play them in Serie A. Hahahahahahahahah
