MN: Milan ready to relaunch bid to renew Leao after resisting Chelsea’s advances

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will soon raise their offer to renew the contract of Rafael Leao with a very big event on the horizon that could impact his future, a report claims.

According to MilanNews, there will be a new economic proposal put forward to agent Jorge Mendes with the aim of trying to get closer to the €7m net per season that he and his client are requesting in order to put pen to paper and extend.

Milan resisted the attempts of Chelsea but it must be mentioned that there was no real negotiation between the clubs because the Rossoneri were categorical in stating that Leao would not move in the summer mercato.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara would like to offer a renewal after putting forward €4.5m net per year last February. Furthermore, there is also a question of timing because getting a renewal before the World Cup would be the best move to avoid risks given Leao’s value (and demands) could rocket.

Therefore, the months of September and October will be crucial in deciding the fate of the 23-year-old, who continues to be decisive as the three goal contributions (2G, 1A) in Saturday’s derby showed.
