CorSport: Milan plan to meet Real Madrid over playmaker as Pioli makes wish clear

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will soon meet with the management of Real Madrid to discuss the future of on-loan playmaker Brahim Diaz, a report claims.

Brahim Diaz started the season in red hot form scoring four times in the first nine games of the campaign which directly contributed to three victories, but he failed to score for the rest of the season after netting the winner against Spezia in late September.

According to what Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) are reporting, Milan have a meeting with Real Madrid on the agenda in the coming days to talk about the situation linked to the Spaniard.

The Rossoneri No.10 still has one year left on his loan before Milan have to decide on a possible permanent signing, but Stefano Pioli has made it clear that he wants to keep the player at least another year, in the hope that he can experience an ascent like Sandro Tonali and Rafael Leao did.

  1. I don’t think Diaz has the football intelligence to be a great playmaker. If you watch a young player with football intelligence like Pedri. He never looks rushed because he knows where the ball is going to go before he gets it. With Diaz it’s almost like the ball is on fire so all of his decisions are rushed and eratic. In some games these rushed decisions come off and it makes him look brilliant but it doesn’t happen enough. He can be a good player but i don’t think he’ll ever be consistent or get to the next level. Players either have football intelligence or they don’t. It can’t be taught. I do think he’ll make a good squad player though making an imoact from the bench.

    1. an erratic Diaz is what we have needed in some games where the opponent shut us down completely, problem is diaz lacks the strength, if not the height, to take his game to the nxt level like the affore mentioned two

  2. Diaz is too smallish, slow and without the strength needed for his kind of play.
He plays like Kaka but lacks the skill, he plays like Messi but lacks the speed and strength.
He wants to score like Lampard but lacks the same strength and technique.
Diaz should do more of passing like Pirlo than trying to go for goal by himself all the time.

  3. Well there is no point to give him back to Real if they aren’t really asking and he isn’t pushing for that. We need 2 AMC, Diaz is one of them.

  4. Do anybody here actually watch Milan matches, this dude Is finished, He is a liabiliTy anytime he Plays, please send him back to Madrid, we need our own player and not a player training for another club

  5. Gibbo, I agree with you. He definitely looks rushed and uncomfortable at times and lacks poise. The one thing he has going for him is that he has the ability to take on a defender one on one and beat him; BUT then the HUGE problem is after he beats his guy, he is TERRIBLE at delivering the proper through ball as the next play. He is often late w/ his pass attempts or simply inaccurate or he tries to beat a 2nd and 3rd guy and loses the ball. Or, he gets knocked over because he’s weak.

I would absolutely love for us to somehow send him back to Madrid in some sort of deal or exchange where we pay them for Asensio or Isco and get a real quality player to come back to us. Very unlikely, I know; but I just don’t see a future for Diaz. He can’t play right wing either — I don’t see him delivering good crosses; but the idea of him playing RW (in some more open spaces) is actually better than him playing CAM where he just gets beat up and can’t handle himself physically.

  6. Kalulu, Tomori, Tonali, Leao If Piolo thinks he can help him get better I think he deserves another chance. Personally I don’t see it but 4 of our best players have blossomed under Pioloi. He has earned the benefit of the doubt.

  7. Kalulu, Tomori, Tonali and Leao never looked TERRIBLE like Diaz.

While I agree with you that we should give Pioli the benefit of the doubt, I really just don’t see it with Diaz.
